How much of the CFA exam is ethics?

Ethical and Professional Standards is 10-15% of the topic weight at every level in the current curriculum (Level I 2027 curriculum, Levels II and III). At Level I it is questions on the Code and Standards; at Levels II and III it appears in item sets, and at Level III also in essays.

What changed in the 2024 Code and Standards?

CFA Institute updated the Code and Standards in 2024, including a new Standard I(E) Competence, a revised V(B) Communication with Clients and Prospective Clients that adds disclosure of the services provided and their costs, and VI(A) renamed Avoid or Disclose Conflicts.

Is ethics graded differently?

CFA Institute does not publish a minimum score per topic. Ethics questions count like any other, but they test application to a case, so practising scenarios matters more than memorising the wording.
