How to study a chapter

Read a chapter once and still remember it on exam day.

  1. 1Understand the idea: read the first section slowly, once.
  2. 2Key rules: cover the screen and say each rule out loud. If you cannot, you do not own it yet.
  3. 3How to solve: learn the step-by-step method that works on any question from the topic.
  4. 4Quickest way: the shortcut for when the clock is running.
  5. 5Common mistakes: never skip these; they are the exact slips that cost marks.
  6. 6Worked examples: solve each one yourself first, then open the solution and compare.
  7. 7Practice questions: answer a few straight away. Testing right after reading is what makes it stick.
  8. 8Revise later with the chapter's flashcards. Download any page as a PDF for offline study.

Find where the marks are

Not every chapter is worth the same. Study where the marks are.

  1. 1Open the past paper analysis for your exam.
  2. 2Start with "Chapters that carry the most marks": give these your best hours and never leave them for the end.
  3. 3Open a recent paper to see what each question tested and which chapter it came from.
  4. 4Practise those exact kinds of questions in chapter practice.

Mocks: practise like the real exam

The exam should never be your first mock.

  1. 1New here? Take the diagnostic mock first: it covers every paper and shows your projected marks.
  2. 2Then use chapter practice (15 questions on one chapter) to fix weak spots, and the daily 10 to keep revision going.
  3. 3Not sure of an answer? Mark it for review and come back. A blank costs nothing; a careless guess can cost marks.
  4. 4After submitting, read the result in this order: projected marks per paper, chapters costing you marks, then every question with its explanation.

Why you got it wrong

Same mistake, again? Fix the reason, not just the answer.

  1. 1After a test, open "Show the diagnosis of each wrong answer".
  2. 2Read the slip behind each wrong option you picked, and the fix: what to revise.
  3. 3Tap "Practise this" for a short round aimed at exactly that error (free students get one round a day).
  4. 4Retry your mistakes from the mistake notebook until you get each one right twice.

Flashcards that stay in your head

Learned it, lost it? A few minutes a day keeps it.

  1. 1Open flashcards and start with the cards due today.
  2. 2Read a card, answer it in your head, then flip it.
  3. 3Be honest: mark whether you knew it. The next review is scheduled for you.
  4. 4Your weakest chapters from practice are suggested first.

You knew it and still lost marks? Write it the way examiners mark it.

  1. 1In Answer Coach, pick a question and type your answer or photograph your handwritten page.
  2. 2Read your estimated marks, the score on each of the six things examiners look for, and the exact fixes that would have earned the marks you missed.
  3. 3When ready, sit a full paper in the exam-day simulator against the real clock, then upload your answers for marking.
