A firm's annual cost of ₹7,20,000 is shown in a pie chart. Raw material accounts for a sector with a central angle of 150°. What is the amount spent on raw material?
Raw material costs ₹3,00,000. A 150° sector is 150/360, or 5/12, of the whole pie, and 5/12 of ₹7,20,000 equals ₹3,00,000. Each degree represents ₹2,000, so 150 degrees represent ₹3,00,000.
- A₹3,00,000Correct
- B₹1,50,000
- C₹2,40,000
- D₹3,60,000
Explanation
The share of raw material is 150/360 = 5/12 of the total cost. Therefore the amount is 5/12 × 7,20,000 = ₹3,00,000. Check: 7,20,000 / 360 = ₹2,000 per degree, and 2,000 × 150 = ₹3,00,000. Using 150/720 would wrongly give ₹1,50,000.
