A State Government in India has set up its State Consumer Protection Council. The State's Minister-in-charge of Consumer Affairs asks the Company Secretary of a bank how many members the Central Government may nominate to this Council. Under the Act, what is the position?

The Central Government may nominate members not exceeding ten to the State Consumer Protection Council. Section 6(2)(c) fixes this ceiling, while the State's Minister-in-charge of Consumer Affairs chairs the Council, and other members are prescribed official or non-official representatives.
