Following the 2023 amendment, Section 36B applies to a State Government. Karnataka's biodiversity department asks what duty this section imposes. Which is correct?
The State Government must develop strategies, plans and programmes for the conservation, promotion and sustainable use of biological diversity, in conformity with national strategies, plans and programmes. Section 36B(1) also covers identifying and monitoring rich areas, in situ and ex situ conservation, and public education.
