For a firm's 60 workers, the 'less than' cumulative frequencies of daily wages (₹) are: less than 300: 8; less than 400: 22; less than 500: 45; less than 600: 60. How many workers earn between ₹400 and ₹500 (i.e. in the class 400–500)?
Twenty-three workers earn between ₹400 and ₹500. The class frequency equals the difference between the less than 500 cumulative frequency of 45 and the less than 400 cumulative frequency of 22, giving 23.
- A14
- B23Correct
- C45
- D37
Explanation
Frequency of class 400–500 = C.F. (<500) − C.F. (<400) = 45 − 22 = 23. Option 14 is 22 − 8, the frequency of the class 300–400. Option 45 is the cumulative value itself.
