Meridian Ltd. completed a new ERP implementation. Three months after go-live, management commissions a review to compare actual benefits, costs, user satisfaction and performance against the objectives set in the original project proposal, and to record lessons learned. In the SDLC, this review belongs to which phase, and what is its purpose?

This is the post-implementation review, part of the later SDLC stages. Its purpose is to evaluate whether the delivered system met its original objectives, costs, benefits and user needs, and to record lessons learned. Feasibility, design and data migration all occur earlier, around building and deploying the system.

  1. APost-implementation review, to evaluate whether the system achieved its objectivesCorrect
  2. BSystem design, to finalise the database structure
  3. CFeasibility study, to decide whether the project should begin
  4. DChange-over, to migrate the old data to the new system

Explanation

A post-implementation review is carried out after go-live to measure results against the approved objectives and capture lessons for future projects. Feasibility and design occur before development, and data migration is part of change-over at deployment, so none of those match a review of actual outcomes against plan.
