Sri Ganesh Traders, Pune, a registered supplier, supplied taxable goods to a registered buyer on 10 June. The goods were removed on 10 June and the invoice was issued on 20 June. Under GST law, in the case of supply of goods requiring movement, by which date should the invoice have been issued at the latest?

The invoice should have been issued on or before the date of removal of goods, that is 10 June. For goods that move, the invoice must be issued at or before removal. The 30-day period applies to services, not to goods supplies.

  1. AOn or before the date of removal of goodsCorrect
  2. BWithin 30 days of the date of supply
  3. CWithin 15 days of the date of removal
  4. DOn or before the date of receipt of payment

Explanation

For a supply of goods involving movement, the tax invoice must be issued at or before the time of removal of the goods. Here removal was on 10 June, so issuing on 20 June is late. The 30-day limit applies to services, not goods, so that option is wrong.
