Sundaram Textiles Ltd, a public company, wants to hold its annual general meeting (AGM) for the financial year ended 31 March 2024. The company held its previous AGM within the permitted time. Within how many months from the close of the financial year must the AGM be held (ignoring any extension granted by the Registrar)?
The AGM must be held within six months from the close of the financial year, so for the year ended 31 March 2024 it is due by 30 September 2024. The separate gap between two AGMs must not exceed fifteen months.
- A3 months
- B6 monthsCorrect
- C9 months
- D12 months
Explanation
A company other than a one person company must hold its AGM every year within six months from the closing of the financial year. So for the year ended 31 March 2024 the AGM is due by 30 September 2024. The 15-month gap is the maximum interval between two AGMs, not the time limit after year end, so 9 or 12 months is wrong.
