Under section 6 of the Apprentices Act, 1961 (central text), the period of apprenticeship training for graduate or technician apprentices and technician (vocational) apprentices is:
The period is such as may be prescribed, as provided in section 6(c) for graduate, technician and technician (vocational) apprentices. State Apprenticeship Council fixation arises only in certain state amendments affecting other apprentices, not in this central provision.

Explanation
Section 6(c) says that for graduate or technician apprentices and technician (vocational) apprentices the period shall be such as may be prescribed. The State Council option reflects the Maharashtra and Rajasthan amendments, which concern clause (b) for other apprentices only.
