Which statement about the median is correct?

The median can be located graphically from an ogive, at the point corresponding to half the total frequency. It is a positional average, so unlike the mean it is not unduly affected by extreme values and can be found even with open-ended classes.

  1. AIt is affected by extreme values as much as the mean
  2. BIt can be located graphically from an ogiveCorrect
  3. CIt requires every observation to be known exactly
  4. DIt cannot be computed for open-ended classes

Explanation

The median is the x-value where the less-than and more-than ogives intersect, or the value at N/2 on the cumulative curve. It is not affected much by extremes and can be found for open-ended classes if the median class is not open.
