CMA Intermediate · Corporate Accounting and Auditing · Earnings per Share (Ind AS 33)
Why does Ind AS 33 retain paragraph numbers such as 4A, 67A, 68A and 73A even though their content has been deleted?
Paragraph numbers are kept so that Ind AS 33 stays aligned with IAS 33 numbering. The content on a separate income statement was deleted because Ind AS 1 removed the two-statement approach, but the numbering is preserved for easy cross-reference.
- ABecause the Companies Act requires deleted paragraphs to be retained for five years
- BBecause these paragraphs apply only to unlisted entities
- CBecause they are replaced by Ind AS 1 paragraphs of the same number
- DTo maintain consistency with the paragraph numbers of IAS 33Correct
Explanation
The paragraphs on EPS presented in a separate income statement were deleted as a consequence of removing the two-statement option in Ind AS 1. Paragraph numbers are retained to stay consistent with IAS 33 numbering. The other options invent reasons not found in the standard.
