Chapter-wise marks
Where the marks were in this paper (out of 100; internal-choice alternatives not double counted).
What stood out
- The paper held exactly to the official split: 40 marks of Business Mathematics, 20 of Logical Reasoning and 40 of Statistics, with 100 one-mark MCQs and a quarter-mark negative for wrong answers.
- Mathematics of Finance was the single heaviest chapter at 14 marks, well ahead of any other maths chapter; simple and compound interest, annuities, loan instalments and CAGR all appeared, so this chapter alone is worth a third of the maths section.
- Logical Reasoning was spread evenly at 5 marks each across its four chapters, which makes it the most predictable and highest-return block for revision time.
- In Statistics, Central Tendency and Dispersion (10) and Statistical Description of Data (9, including sampling theory) carried nearly half the section, while theory-heavy one-liners on data presentation and sampling rewarded reading the study material closely.
- ICAI's key flagged two questions with no correct option and awarded the mark to every candidate, so the effective scoring pool was 98 marks; equations and inequalities together drew only 5 marks.
