A person faces north-west. He turns 90° anticlockwise, then 135° clockwise. Which direction is he facing finally?

He faces north. North-west is at 315°, an anticlockwise 90° turn takes it to 225° (south-west), and a clockwise 135° turn then brings it to 360°, which is north.

Explanation

North-west is 315° clockwise from north. Anticlockwise 90° gives 225° (south-west). Clockwise 135° gives 360°, i.e. 0°, which is north. North-east would result from a 180° clockwise turn at the second step.
