How many terms of the AP 5, 9, 13, 17, ... are less than 100?
Twenty-four terms are less than 100. The nth term equals 4n plus 1, and this stays below 100 only while n is less than 24.75, so the 24th term, 97, is the last one below 100.
- A25
- B24Correct
- C23
- D26
Explanation
The nth term is 5+(n−1)4=4n+1. For 4n+1<100 we need n<24.75, so n=24 (24th term is 97). Option 25 wrongly includes 101.
