CS Professional · Arbitration, Mediation and Conciliation · Preparation and Execution of Arbitral Award
In a domestic arbitration, pleadings under section 23(4) were completed on 1 April 2025. The parties consented to extend the time for the award by the maximum period allowed by consent. The tribunal has not made its award, and no Court application is pending. By when must the award be made to avoid termination of the mandate by lapse of time, apart from any Court extension?
The deadline is 1 October 2026. The twelve months from completion of pleadings end on 1 April 2026, and parties may by consent extend by up to six months. After that the arbitrators' mandate terminates unless the Court has extended the period.
