The following table shows a frequency distribution of daily orders received by a firm: Orders 10–20: 5, 20–30: 8, 30–40: 15, 40–50: 12, 50–60: 6, 60–70: 4. A manager wants the number of days with at least 40 orders, and also the 'more than' cumulative frequency at 30. Which pair is correct (in the order: days with at least 40 orders, more than 30 cumulative frequency)?

The pair is 22 and 37. Days with at least 40 orders are 12 + 6 + 4 = 22. The more than 30 cumulative frequency is 15 + 12 + 6 + 4 = 37, which equals the total of 50 minus the 13 days below 30.

  1. A22, 37Correct
  2. B22, 15
  3. C37, 22
  4. D12, 37

Explanation

Total days = 5+8+15+12+6+4 = 50. Days with 40 or more orders = 12+6+4 = 22. The 'more than 30' cumulative frequency = 15+12+6+4 = 37, which is 50 - (5+8) = 37. Option 37, 22 swaps the two values, and 22, 15 uses only the 30–40 class for the second value.
