The State of Gujarat plans the composition of its State Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission. As per the Act's text, what must the Commission consist of?
A State Commission consists of a President and not less than four members, up to the maximum number prescribed in consultation with the Central Government. The minimum of two members applies to the District Commission, not the State Commission.
- AA President and not less than two members
- BA President and not less than four members, up to the prescribed maximumCorrect
- CA President and exactly four members
- DOnly a President, with members appointed when needed
Explanation
Section 42(3) provides for a President and not less than four members, and not more than the number prescribed in consultation with the Central Government. The 'not less than two' figure belongs to the District Commission under Section 28, so that option is wrong.
