Twelve persons are seated at equal distances around a circular table. Meera sits directly opposite Nikhil. How many persons sit between Meera and Nikhil when counted along either side of the table?

Five persons sit between them on each side. In a ring of 12 equally spaced seats, the opposite seat is six places away, so excluding the two people themselves leaves five people on each side.

  1. A4
  2. B5Correct
  3. C6
  4. D11

Explanation

With 12 equally spaced seats, the person opposite is 6 seats away. Counting along one side, the seats strictly between them number 6 - 1 = 5, and the other side also has 5. Choosing 6 wrongly counts the seat gap rather than the persons in between.
