CS Executive · Setting Up of Business, Industrial and Labour Laws · The Apprentices Act, 1961

Under the central text of the Apprentices Act, 1961, how is the period of apprenticeship training for graduate or technician apprentices (including technician (vocational) apprentices) determined?

For graduate or technician apprentices, including technician (vocational) apprentices, the period of apprenticeship training is such as may be prescribed. The Act does not fix a uniform period or leave it to the employer's discretion; the contract of apprenticeship specifies the prescribed period.

  1. AIt is fixed by the employer in the contract without any rules
  2. BIt is such as may be prescribedCorrect
  3. CIt is always one year
  4. DIt is set by the trade test conducted by the National Council

Explanation

Section 6(c) states that for graduate or technician (and technician (vocational)) apprentices, the period shall be such as may be prescribed. It is not left to the employer, nor fixed at one year, and trade tests relate to trade apprentices.
