Under the Consumer Protection Act, 2019, who chairs the State Consumer Protection Council established by a State Government?

The State Consumer Protection Council is chaired by the Minister-in-charge of Consumer Affairs in the State Government. It is an advisory body. The Collector chairs the District Council, not the State Council, and the Central Authority's Chief Commissioner has no role as its chairperson.

  1. AThe Minister-in-charge of Consumer Affairs in the State GovernmentCorrect
  2. BThe Collector of the State capital district
  3. CThe President of the State Commission

Explanation

The Act provides that the State Council is an advisory council chaired by the Minister-in-charge of Consumer Affairs in the State Government. The Collector chairs only the District Council, so that option mixes up the two levels.
