Which type of task is generally the most suitable candidate for automation?
High-volume, repetitive tasks governed by clear rules are the most suitable for automation. Their steps can be programmed and the set-up cost is spread across many transactions. Tasks needing judgement in unstructured situations, or one-off tasks without defined steps, are much less suitable.
- AHigh-volume, repetitive tasks based on clear rulesCorrect
- BTasks that require judgement about unusual, unstructured situations
- CTasks that occur once and have no defined steps
Explanation
Automation works best where a task is frequent, structured and rule-based, since the cost of programming is spread over many transactions. Tasks needing judgement, or one-off tasks without defined steps, are harder and less economic to automate.
