Zeta Ltd requires staff to enter a password and then a one-time code sent to their mobile phone before accessing the payroll system. What is this control called?

This is two-factor authentication. The user must provide two different types of evidence of identity, a password they know and a one-time code sent to a device they hold, which makes unauthorised access much harder than a password alone.

  1. ATwo-factor authenticationCorrect
  2. BRole-based access segregation
  3. CData validation

Explanation

Combining something the user knows (password) with something they have (phone code) is two-factor authentication. Role-based segregation limits what a user can do after access, and data validation checks input accuracy.
