What stood out

  • The paper divided into an accounting half (Questions 2 to 5, mostly numerical) and an auditing half (Questions 6 to 8, entirely theory), letting candidates pick a balance that suits them.
  • A full 14-mark Schedule III question on preparing financial statements with notes was the single biggest item and is a recurring anchor of this paper.
  • Special-entity accounts (banking rebate on bills and life insurance fund) took a whole question, so these short chapters should not be skipped.
  • Auditing questions spread across risk-based internal audit, secretarial audit, audit reports, NFRA, audit committees and audit of a nursing home, with no case-study format.
  • Ind AS coverage was light in the written section (only Ind AS 19 theory), while the MCQs touched Ind AS 2, 19 and 33.
