What stood out

  • The written section was almost entirely numerical: only one 5-mark part (accounting policy selection under AS 1) was pure theory.
  • Partnership accounts carried the single largest block, a full 14-mark dissolution question with realisation, capital and bank accounts, plus a short retiring-partner computation.
  • Accounting standards were tested practically through AS 10 capitalisation (twice, including a machinery ledger) and AS 11 exchange differences, together worth 21 marks of written questions.
  • Special transactions (accommodation bills, hire purchase, branch stock, fire insurance claim) each appeared as 7-mark parts, rewarding broad coverage of the middle chapters.
  • The MCQ section spread 15 questions over 12 chapters, with basic accounting concepts and final accounts adjustments taking five of them.
