Which Article of the Constitution empowers the Union to give directions to a State as to the exercise of its executive power so as to ensure compliance with laws made by Parliament?
Article 256 is the correct provision. It obliges each State to exercise its executive power in compliance with laws made by Parliament and permits the Union to issue directions to the State for that purpose. The other Articles deal with water disputes, the Inter-State Council and taxes.
