Eight persons sit around a circular table facing the centre. Each person's immediate right neighbour is the person on that person's right when seated. If A sits third to the right of B, then B sits which position with respect to A?

B sits third to the left of A. The relation reverses when viewed from the other person: if A is three places to the right of B, then moving three places in the opposite direction, to the left, from A reaches B.

  1. AThird to the right of A
  2. BThird to the left of ACorrect
  3. CFifth to the left of A
  4. DSecond to the left of A

Explanation

If A is 3 places to the right of B, going from B to A is 3 steps in the right direction. Going back from A to B is 3 steps the opposite way, so B is third to the left of A. Fifth to the left would be the other way round the table and equals third to the right.
