CA Foundation · Quantitative Aptitude · Seating Arrangements

Seven persons P, Q, R, S, T, U and V sit in a row facing north. Q sits second from the left end. R sits third to the right of Q. U sits exactly between Q and R. V sits at the right of R but not at an end. S sits at the left of Q. T sits at an end. What is the position of T from the left end?

T sits 7th from the left. Q is at seat 2 and R at seat 5. S must be at seat 1, V is at seat 6 because it is right of R but not at the end, so T occupies the other end, seat 7.

  3. C5th
  4. D4th

Explanation

Q is at 2, R at 5. U is between Q and R, so seat 3 or 4. S is left of Q, so seat 1. V is right of R but not at an end, so V is at 6. T takes the remaining end, seat 7. Seat 6 for T fails since V occupies it. U takes seat 3 or 4 without changing T's place.
