In the Thomas-Kilmann conflict model, which two dimensions are used to define the five conflict-handling styles?

The Thomas-Kilmann model uses assertiveness and cooperativeness. Assertiveness measures how far a person pursues their own concerns, and cooperativeness measures how far they satisfy the other party's concerns. Combining these gives the five styles: competing, collaborating, compromising, avoiding and accommodating.

  1. AAssertiveness and cooperativenessCorrect
  2. BPower and authority
  3. CFormality and informality
  4. DTask focus and relationship focus only in groups

Explanation

The Thomas-Kilmann model plots assertiveness (concern for own goals) against cooperativeness (concern for the other party's goals). The five styles are competing, collaborating, compromising, avoiding and accommodating. Power and formality are not the axes of the model.
