CA Foundation · Quantitative Aptitude · Seating Arrangements

Seven persons A, B, C, D, E, F and G sit in a row facing south. Positions are described by the persons' own left and right. A sits at the extreme left end. B sits third to the right of A. C sits immediately to the right of B. D sits between A and B but not next to A. E sits second to the right of C. F is not next to E. Who sits immediately to the right of F?

D sits immediately to F's right. Using the persons' own left to right, A is in seat 1, F in seat 2, D in seat 3, B in seat 4, C in seat 5, G in seat 6 and E in seat 7. F must be in seat 2 because seat 6 is next to E.

  1. AA
  2. BB
  3. CDCorrect
  4. DG

Explanation

Number the seats 1 to 7 from the persons' own left. A is at 1 and B is at 4. C is at 5 and E is at 7. D is between A and B but not next to A, so D is at 3. F and G take seats 2 and 6. F is not next to E, so F cannot be at 6, so F is at 2 and G is at 6. The person immediately to the right of F is at seat 3, which is D.
