Five friends Gopal, Hari, Imran, Jaya and Kiran sit in a row facing north. Gopal sits at the extreme right end. Hari sits at the extreme left end. Imran sits immediately to the left of Gopal. Jaya sits somewhere between Hari and Kiran. Who sits in the middle of the row?

Kiran sits in the middle. Hari is at seat 1, Gopal at seat 5 and Imran at seat 4. Jaya must be between Hari and Kiran, so Jaya takes seat 2 and Kiran takes seat 3, the middle seat.

  1. AKiran
  2. BJayaCorrect
  3. CImran
  4. DHari

Explanation

Order from left: Hari at position 1, Gopal at 5, Imran at 4. Remaining seats 2 and 3 go to Jaya and Kiran. Jaya must be between Hari and Kiran, so Jaya is at 2 and Kiran at 3... but then Jaya is between Hari and Kiran, which is true. Hence the middle (position 3) is Kiran, not Jaya.
