CA Foundation · Quantitative Aptitude · Seating Arrangements

Six persons sit in two rows of three seats. Row 1 has A, B and C, facing south. Row 2 has D, E and F, facing north. Seats in both rows are numbered 1 to 3 from west to east, and each person faces the person in the same-numbered seat of the other row. A sits at the west end of Row 1 and C sits in the middle of Row 1. D faces B. E sits in the middle of Row 2. Who sits immediately to the left of D?

E sits immediately to the left of D. The first row fixes B in the east seat, so D is in the east seat of the second row and E is in the middle. D faces north, so left means west, which is E.

Explanation

A is in seat 1 and C in seat 2 of Row 1, so B is in seat 3. D faces B, so D is in seat 3 of Row 2. E is in the middle, so F is in seat 1. D faces north, so D's left is the west side, which is seat 2 and holds E. F is not adjacent to D.
