The inclusive classes 1-10, 11-20, 21-30 are given for the number of orders received per day by a Surat trader. Before drawing a histogram, the class boundaries are found. What are the boundaries of the class 11-20?
The boundaries are 10.5 to 20.5. For inclusive classes, the correction factor is half the gap between consecutive classes, here 0.5. Subtract it from the lower limit 11 and add it to the upper limit 20 to make the classes continuous for the histogram.
- A11 to 20
- B10 to 20
- C10.5 to 20.5Correct
- D11.5 to 20.5
Explanation
The gap between the upper limit of one class (10) and the lower limit of the next (11) is 1. Half of it, 0.5, is subtracted from the lower limit and added to the upper limit. So 11-20 becomes 10.5-20.5. Option 4 adjusts only one end incorrectly.
