Five colleagues Ravi, Sita, Tarun, Uma and Vikas sit in a row facing north. Ravi sits at the extreme left end and Uma at the extreme right end. Sita sits immediately to the right of Ravi. Vikas sits between Tarun and Uma. Who sits in the middle of the row?

Tarun sits in the middle. Ravi takes the left end and Uma the right end, Sita is next to Ravi, and Vikas must lie between Tarun and Uma. This gives the order Ravi, Sita, Tarun, Vikas, Uma, so the third seat is Tarun's.

Explanation

Ravi is first from the left and Uma is last. Sita is immediately right of Ravi, so she is second. Vikas must be between Tarun and Uma, so the order is Ravi, Sita, Tarun, Vikas, Uma. The middle (third) seat belongs to Tarun. Sita is only second, so she is wrong.
