In the standard multi-channel queuing model (M/M/s), which assumption about the service channels is made?

The M/M/s model assumes one common queue feeding s parallel channels with identical exponential service rates. The next waiting customer goes to whichever channel becomes free. Arrivals are Poisson. Separate queues or unequal channel rates are not part of the standard model.

  1. AEach channel has its own separate queue, and customers cannot switch between queues
  2. BCustomers form a single queue and the next customer goes to whichever channel becomes free, with all channels having identical service ratesCorrect
  3. CChannels have different service rates so that the fastest channel serves first
  4. DArrivals follow a uniform distribution and service times are constant

Explanation

The M/M/s model assumes Poisson arrivals, exponential service times, a single waiting line feeding s identical parallel channels, and the next customer takes the first free channel. Separate queues per channel and unequal service rates are not part of the standard model, and constant service times describe M/D/s, not M/M/s.
