In a project network, activity P has earliest start 6, duration 5, and its successor Q has latest start 14. P has no other successor. What is the total float of P?
Total float of P is 3. Its latest finish equals the successor's latest start, 14, and its earliest finish is 6 + 5 = 11. Float is the difference, 14 - 11 = 3. Subtracting only the start time gives 8, which ignores the activity duration.
- A3Correct
- B8
- C11
- D2
Explanation
Latest finish of P = latest start of Q = 14. Earliest finish of P = 6 + 5 = 11. Total float = LF - EF = 14 - 11 = 3. Using 14 - 6 = 8 ignores the duration of P.
